So Jeong (S. J.) Choi is an associate at Taylor Oballa Murray Leyland LLP. She practices entertainment and media law with a focus on film and television, music, digital media, live entertainment and games, as well as general corporate and commercial law.
Prior to being called to the Ontario Bar in 2019, S. J. studied at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law, where she served as the President of the Sports and Entertainment Law Society and volunteered at Artists’ Legal Advice Services. S. J. graduated with High Distinction from University of Toronto Scarborough, with an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Arts Management (Specialist) and a double minor in Theatre/Performance Studies and Global Asia Studies.
S. J.’s love for the entertainment industry allowed her to work extensively in the field in both North America and Asia. Prior to pursuing her legal studies, she worked as a production coordinator for a major U.S. network children’s TV series, and regularly worked in the theatre, TV and concert production space. Her hands-on knowledge in various aspects of the entertainment industry is invaluable in understanding the needs of, and finding the best legal solutions for, her clients. She is fully business fluent in both Korean and English.
In her free time, she enjoys making music and Korean rice wine.
